Location and Cameras

The VisionAI Observ system provides a camera management interface, categorizing cameras by location and offering options for filtering and customization.

Camera List

From the navigation list on the left, select Resource to enter the resource screen and view all current locations and cameras.

Listed on the first page upon opening the resource tab is the locations that the user has created, each having a dropdown on the left to view all the cameras associated with that location, and all tasks--whether running or disconnected--associated with each camera.

Click Add Resource to add a new location or camera to the platform, or Edit to edit or delete a location or camera.

Add Location

To add a new location, select + Location on the upper right side of Resource page and fill in the corresponding information.

  • Location Name: Define the name of the location to which the camera will be associated for management (e.g., "Seattle Office," "South Building").

  • GPS: Set the GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the location. The time zone will automatically adjust to the associated coordinates.

circle-info

Hint: You can copy the latitude and longitude from Google Maps by right clicking on the map over the desired location.

Use the following format for decimal degrees (latitude first, then the longitude):

  • Correct Format: 41.40338, 2.17403

  • Incorrect Format: 41,40338, 2,17403

Add Camera

When adding a camera, make sure that the location that the camera will be associated with has already been created. To add a new camera, select + Camera and fill in the corresponding information.

  • Location: Choose the location where the new camera/s will be associated to.

  • Camera Name: Define the camera name.

  • RTSP: Fill in the RTSP address for the video stream connection.

The user will have the option to add multiple cameras at once by clicking the Add More button at the bottom of the pop up window.

Editing Locations and Cameras

To modify the location, click Edit on the right side of each location to modify its name, associated organization, and icon. When each location is created, GPS coordinates are inputted by the user. These cannot be modified upon creation. The user also has the option to delete a location, which can only be done if the location is not in use by any task.

To modify the camera, click Edit on the edit button corresponding to that camera. Its associated location cannot be modified, but the user can change the stream source, and also optionally fill in additional information

  • GPS coordinates: Add coordinates to place a specific location marker of the camera on the map view of tasks. Note that the time zone is still associated with the location coordinates, not the camera coordinates.

  • Camera Model: Input the model of the camera being used for easy look-up and referencing.
